WHAT TO EXPECT
Rejuvenation with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
IS IT SAFE?
Yes, we use your own blood to activate wound healing properties. This is a natural and Physiological activation in which will work with your white blood cells to fight any possible infection.
IS IT QUICK?
Yes, the preparation is simple and quick which is done on site during your appointment time. Duration of visits varies depending on the treatment area.
WHERE CAN I USE IT?
Can be used in multiple areas for skin rejuvenation such as: décolletage, neck, face, wrinkles, fine lines, hair follicles, hands, age spots, melasma, stretch marks, scars, acne and scar tissue.
WHO CAN BE A CANDIDATE?
Most individuals of the age of 18 and older depending on eligibility.
Individuals younger than 18 will need a parent’s consent.
DOES SKIN COLOR MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE?
Almost all skin tones have shown that the process is safe and equally effective. This is because of the use of your own enriched plasma.
WHERE ON MY BODY CAN IT BE TREATED?
Most common areas include: Eyes, Cheeks, Mid Face, Mouth, Neck, Décolletage, and Jaw-Line.
Other areas that can be treated include your head(to help with scars or hair growth), back of hands and arms.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF PRP FOR FACIAL REJUVENATION?
The provider will perform a skin analysis which will determine a recommended type of treatment for the desired area. Photographs of the areas of skin are taken to compare and contrast from pre and post treatment.
DOES IT HURT?
A topical numbing agent may be used to minimize the discomfort.
DO I NEED MY BLOOD DRAWN?
Prior to treatment a blood sample of 15 to 20 ml is extracted from the patient. This blood is placed in the centrifuge for about 15 minutes. When centrifugation is complete your plasma will be separated from your red blood cells. The rich platelets are extracted and prepared for injection.
The PRP is then injected into the skin. Platelets gradually increase collagen which can increase skin thickness and overall health of the skin.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
This process and injection time takes approximately 45 minutes – 1 hour in total.
SIDE EFFECTS OF PRP FACIAL REJUVENATION.
Side Effects are Minimal: Generally you can expect swelling, redness and possible bruising at times. This can occur for the next 12-24 hours, but it may last longer. This is not a problem, all individuals heal at different rates.
EXPECTATIONS FOR PRP.
Results are visible around 3 weeks and improve gradually over the coming months with improvement in texture and tone.
Cosmeceuticals like “Defenage” can enhance the results.
Advanced wrinkling can not be reversed and a minimal improvement is predictable in persons with drug, alcohol and tobacco usage.
I HAVE SCARS?
Severe scarring may or may not respond.
ARE RESULTS IMMEDIATE?
No. Swelling from the fluid is what you will see and feel first. Once the swelling has subsided you will not see much change at all. Over a few weeks the Platelets will stimulate the growth factors which will assist in more collagen growth.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?
This will depend upon the health and age of your skin. Normally it is advised to have 2 – 3 treatments 4 weeks apart. However your provider will determine your treatment protocol according to your skin condition.
HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?
Treatment results vary, however in most patients the results last up to 18-24 months. Yearly touch-up treatments are recommended and will maintain the results.
WHO SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS TREATMENT?
Persons who have any kind of blood disorders such as:
- Platelet Dysfunction Syndrome
- Critical Thrombocytopenia
- Hypofibrinogenemia
- Hemodynamic unstable, and those on Anti Coagulation Therapy
- Person with Skin Diseases
- Cancer and Chemotherapy patients

SkinPen® Procedure Considerations
PREPARING FOR YOUR SKINPEN PROCEDURE
• The treated area may be pink and mildly inflamed (similar to the appearance of a mild sunburn) for 24-48 hours following your SkinPen procedure.
• 24 hours post-procedure, your provider may advise you to keep your skin clean of cosmetics or sunscreen for the remainder of the day.
• If you are prone to herpes simplex outbreaks, such as cold sores, consult your provider on ways to treat prior or whether the procedure is appropriate for you.
• If your face or treatment area has irritated skin (sunburn, open wounds, sores) the day preceding your appointment, please contact our office before your appointment.
• This procedure may not be performed on active breakouts or open lesions. Please consult your provider prior to your SkinPen procedure to address any such issues.
• Wait at least six months post isotretinoin use before your SkinPen procedure, as isotretinoin use may impair proper wound healing.
• If you have recently used spray or self-tanning lotions on treatment areas before your SkinPen procedure, discuss with your provider.
• Avoid sun exposure for 24 hours prior to the procedure.
• Discontinue the use of topical products containing AHAs, Retinol or Vitamin A for 24 hours prior to your SkinPen procedure.
• If you are on autoimmune therapy, ask your provider if the procedure is appropriate for you.
POST SKINPEN PROCEDURE GUIDELINES
The day of the procedure:
• Unexpected complications may occur when products not proven safe for use with microneedling are applied post-procedure.
• Avoid strenuous exercise or excessive perspiration, as excess blood flow and sweat can cause discomfort and irritation to compromised skin for 72 hours.
• Skinfuse® Lift HG may be applied additionally the day of the procedure to assist with skin hydration. Reapply, as needed, up to 24 hours post procedure.
• Strictly avoid sun exposure as you will not be wearing sunscreen. You may return to sunscreen use 24 hours following the procedure. Continue to minimize sun exposure for 72 hours following the procedure.
The days following the procedure:
• Follow the specific skincare regimen provided with your Skinfuse Post-Procedure Protocol.
• Wait at least 7 days post-procedure to begin Surge Collagen Boost.
